CONGRATS SPAIN ON YOUR EURO 2008 WIN! (and, um, no podcast this week)

Congratulations to Spain on their historic Euro 2008 win! What a tournament!!!

Because of the game and other stuff that's kept me away from my responsibilities this weekend, there will be no podcast this week. However, look for a new podcast this weekend (4th of July weekend in the United States!) featuring Gina's news, a new classic/current and all your favorite modern rock hits!

For now, I leave you with the sole goal from today's Euro 2008 (now you know how huge a soccer fan I am) championship game between Spain and Germany from Vienna, Austria. Spain 1, Germany 0.

Have a great week!

Planet Earth Chicago Returns Tomorrow Night!

6a00d83454285c69e200e550fbddb18834-800wi Many of you will recall my post in early March where - with much sadness - I discussed the cancellation of Planet Earth Chicago, a retro 80's alternative club night hosted by DJ Dave Roberts originally at Chicago's Neo.The creation of the Alternative Classix podcast was in large part inspired by the music and scene which played out for almost eight years at Planet Earth Chicago's Thursday night events there.

Now, I'm pleased to announce that beginning tomorrow night, Planet Earth Chicago returns - this time, at the very cool Subterranean in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood!! Rather than try and explain the details, here's the notice that Dave and Kristine recently posted to their MySpace page:

PLANET EARTH RETURNS SATURDAY MAY 24 @ SUBTERRANEAN!

PLANET EARTH - BRAVE NEW WORLD...SATURDAY MAY 24 @ SUBTERRANEAN!

We crash-land in Wicker Park on Saturday May 24 and we hope you will be there to witness this earth-shaking event! Subterranean is a beautiful bi-level venue with two bars, a lounge area, new-wave-friendly decor, free water, and plenty of room to dance! (Did we mention clean bathrooms?)We can't wait to take photos of people dancing from the balcony because it will look like the opening scene to "The Hunger"!

Photos for our website (and local papers) will be taken so dress up! If you need something new to wear, check out MEDUSA'S CIRCLE located at 3268 N. Clark St. http://www.medusascircle.com We saw some really cool stuff when we dropped off flyer's...go see for yourself!

Bring extra cash on the 24th because LAURIE'S PLANET OF SOUND will be visiting our planet with amazing new wave goodies for you to buy and take home. If you can't wait until the 24th, visit Chicago's coolest independent record store at 4639 N. Lincoln Ave. http://www.lauriesplanetofsound.com...ask for Melissa if you have questions about new wave music...she's a peach!

GILL T. is lending us sound equipment and will be doing amazing lighting effects, KEVIN AND EMILY will be helping with the video projection, and THE SPACE CADET DANCERS will be performing on stage all night long with beautiful costumes and make up! There will be so much going on it's hard to tell you all about it here...so get your ticket today!

Tickets are $5 in advance/ $10 day of show

Yes, you can show up the night of the party and pay $10 at the door, however, it's a first come first serve basis. Subterranean has a strict capacity policy so we suggest getting a ticket because ticket holders are guaranteed entry. Don't forget that this is a 21+ event so bring your valid ID with you!

BUY ADVANCED TICKETS @ http://www.subt.net

DOORS OPEN AT 10pm

We can't wait to dance with you again!
