All of us here at the AC are abuzz with excitement this week with the addition of our newest staff member and official music critic, Courtney Smith!
Courtney will be doing a review of a classic modern rock album that you may have forgotten about each week on the blog, with short audio reviews coming soon to the podcast!
A resident of New York City, Courtney says she became a "music nerd" after falling in with the wrong crowd in college and things just took off from there.
"I interned with Josh and 'The Adventure Club' of KDGE-FM in Dallas and before I knew it, I was spending all of my time with Josh and his record nerd friends arguing the merits of bands like Belle and Sebastian and Beat Happening," she said. "Wally Pleasant even came to town to play our parties in exchange for a place to crash."
Today, Courtney programs videos for MTV2's Subterranean and writes for the show's blog. She also programs videos for the forthcoming Virtual Lower East Side. Her favorite bands are REM and Elvis Costello...and, she loves puppies.
