As many of you know, for the past two years, the Alternative Classix team has supplemented the weekly podcast with a live version of the show on Friday nights in the virtual world of Second Life. It's been a wonderful experience - first at Pulse, then Mystical Nights and most recently at Harmony Cafe and the RiverWalk Coffee Company in Cetus. Separately, Tarsis has done weekly DJ gigs at the high, featuring Brazilian music from the 1960s through today - another genre close to his heart.
We've made new friends and we've brought on many new podcast listeners. Second Life makes you realize that just when you think you've figured out the Internet -- something will always come along to expand the way you use it. But eventually, all things must come to a close.
And so it is we announced in-world today, with much sadness, that we have decided to indefinitely suspend Alternative Classix LIVE in SL. As the team looks to take the podcast in new and exciting directions in 2009 (details to come!) while balancing an increasingly busy schedule, it became obvious that something had to give. The dawn of a new year has a way of providing clarity to one's priorities and the time was right for the move.
We have so many people to thank in SL, and couldn't possibly post all their names here. But, first and foremost, we'd like to thank all the fans that made our live gigs possible and successful. We couldn't have done it without you! A special thanks also going out to:
Nexeus Fatale
Xander Ruttan
Tricia Afredita
Geda Hax
Catty Loon
Yvette Quijote
Vixie Durant
Kallyfaith Rolland
Without the help and support of these generous individuals, our SL experience would surely have been a disaster! We love you all.
Tarsis (Korobase) and Gina (Ribbons in SL)
